Community Facilitators and Trainer Pool Annual Workshop

From January 19-23, 2009, an annual
workshop for Community Facilitators (CFs) and Trainer Pool (TP) was organized by the Heifer Cambodia Team at Siem
Reap Province, Cambodia. The workshop was aimed at strengthening
the TP and CFs’ capacity in lesson plan preparation for providing trainings to Self-Help Groups (SHGs) by improving their skills in presentation when donors or visitors visit their project sites and increasing their awareness on domestic violence in order that they could transfer this knowledge to the community. Moreover, participants also had the opportunities to share their best practices in provision of trainings to SHGs and challenges they faced during the process.
Participants in the workshop were 34 TPs and CFs from 18 Heifer project partners and a representative from German Technical Cooperation (GTZ).
Five staff members from the Ministry of Woman Affairs were also
invited to present topics on domestic violence awareness to the
participants.
The main topics covered in the workshop included presentation skills, lesson plan preparation, roles and responsibilities of CFs and TP, training need assessment, and domestic violence awareness. In every session of the workshop, the participants expressed their great interest in the topics provided. They participated fully and actively by asking questions and sharing their ideas and experiences. |
| The five-day workshop was very helpful for the TP and CFs,
who were able to sharpen their ability in providing
trainings effectively to
the SHGs for sustainable and holistic development. The participants also learned more about root cause, impact and prevention of domestic violence. |
