My Family No Longer Lives in
Fear
| Loeum Thi is a farmer living in Mean Chey village, Siem Reap province. He and his wife, Ming, tried to work very hard to generate income to support their family. However, they always had problems in food shortage and ended up borrowing from others year after year. With the support from Heifer though project partner, Farmer Organic for Development Association (FODA), Self-Help Groups (SHGs) were formed in his village. Loeum Thi was so exited to be a member of the Mean Chey group. He has received different types of trainings including cornerstones, farming, and animal raising. |

Loeum Thi has tried
hard to practice what he has learned from the trainings,
especially the 12 Cornerstones, improve animal management and
home gardening. With his strong commitments in applying the |

Cornerstones and actively
participating in group activities, his family was selected by
the group as a role model. Others can learn animal raising,
plating, and living with dignity and love from his family. |

“We have enough food to eat
for an entire year and can sell to others. Our family
income has improved from raising chickens, pigs, cows,
fruits, and vegetables. My family expenditures also have
been reduced because we have grown vegetables for consumption. Our
health has been better from using compost for fertilizer,” Loeum Thi
said. “I would like to thank Heifer |
| and FODA for giving us an opportunity to change our lives and build our self-confidence. We are now no longer living in fear of not having enough food to eat or having to borrow money from others. I am happy to share and help others who need my support like Heifer supported us.” he added. |
