Project Partner Co-mentoring and Workshop

A two-day meeting on the third round of project partner co-mentoring was held at Sihanouk Ville, from February 28-29, with the participation of 24 representatives of 12 existing project partners and ten Heifer Cambodia staff. The meeting was followed by a three-day annual project partner workshop which on March 1-3.

The aims of the meeting were to build up the project partners’ capacity in adaptation to Heifer’s models of shared leadership and co-mentoring and to provide them with moral support in strengthening their project impacts for long term development. Moreover, the participants were encouraged to share and learn from each other the experiences gained from field practices, so that they could develop new initiatives for the next development phase. Two project partner representatives – one from CelAgrid in the southeast region and another one from Krom Akphiwat Phum in the northwest region – were encouraged to co-facilitate the meeting regarding the shared leadership model.

During the co-mentoring meeting, all participants were encouraged to discuss the findings that were gained from field practices. They learnt together the achievements of the project implementation in terms of the three levels of impact based on SWOT analysis. At the end of the meeting, they developed an action plan for improvement and implementation.

During the project partner workshop, participants were given the opportunity to learn more about new initiatives, tools, procedures and policies as well as financial management, by working in partnership with Heifer Cambodia to implement the projects in order that they could smoothly adapt to Heifer’s approaches and models. At the same time, they were also able to build and strengthen their capacity for long term development. Meanwhile, they were encouraged to raise their concerns or specific issues for group discussion as well as lessons learned by Heifer Cambodia staff.
