Trainings Build Self-Confidence

From March 1-4, the Finance Team of Heifer Cambodia provided a training course on financial report preparation to 14 accountants from 13 new and existing project holders who are implementing Heifer projects in eight provinces throughout Cambodia. The four-day training course, which was conducted at the Heifer Cambodia office in Phnom Penh, aimed to build and strengthen the capacity of project partners in reporting procedures and the computerized accounting system, QuickBooks.

After a welcome speech, Heifer Cambodia Finance Officer did the presentations and explained to the participants budget categories, financial form usage, cash flow requests, preparation of annual financial

projections, and the QuickBooks program application. The training course allocated two days for the participants to practice the exercises. Through these exercises and practices, the participants were able to discuss and share their ideas and understanding about financial management.

During the training session, the participants enthusiastically learned and asked many questions. They were satisfied with the clarifications and feedback from the Finance Team. All participants expressed that the training was very useful and will be helpful in improving their financial reporting of Heifer project implementation.

“I started working with Rural Children Saving Association (RCSA) as an accountant soon after finishing high school,” said Miss Thik Thida, the accountant from Heifer project partner RCSA. She stated, “Therefore,

my knowledge on financial management was very low. However, after attending several refresher financial trainings and coaching provide by the Heifer Cambodia Finance Team, now I am more confident in practicing QuickBooks and in financial management in my organization. Thanks Heifer Cambodia very much for the trainings to build my capacity.” Applying the triadic model of Heifer Valued-Based Community Development, every year Heifer Cambodia provides the financial training to all project holders to improve their capacity in financial management.
