of the workshop was to build project
partners’ capacity and field practices based on the partnership
model for project management and the Values–Based Holistic
Community Development (VBHCD) approach at the grassroots level for
sustainable community transformation.
On the occasion of the workshop opening, Dr. Sen Sovann made an invaluable speech to the participants on Heifer’s values and its approach to re-enforcing Heifer’s Cornerstones to meet the global mission of ending hunger and caring for the earth. He also introduced A/SP models in partnership development and project management for conceptual learning together, as well as building capacity and best practices in the VBHCD at rural community levels.
Facilitated by Heifer Cambodia’s Training Officer and Program staff, the participants learned more about the Cornerstones-based values and personal and shared leadership, making action plans for their field practices in terms of improving their attitudinal and behavioral change. They were also encouraged to focus on A/SP’s triadic model for project implementation, three impact levels, and co-mentoring. The model of co-mentoring among the project partners was considered as a main topic for discussion and taking of action plan in field practice. According to their project location (in southeast and southwest regions), the project partners are divided into two groups to practice the A/SP model of co-mentoring, so that they are able to learn and assist each other to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the project implementation and of great impacts at all levels (ground, deeper and external).
Through the workshop, opportunities were given to both the Heifer Cambodia team and project partners to improve their understanding and to consider challenges toward achievable goals of a long-term development of the program with accountability and transparency. It also inspired participants to increase their communication efficiently between the Heifer Cambodia team and project partners, and among the project partners themselves.
